About AndPayments
AndPayments is building the next-generation payments stack for Indian businesses, and for businesses globally that need India-grade payments infrastructure. We operate across Payments, RegTech, B2B SaaS and Prepaid Instruments. These are not separate bets. They are a deliberate stack: compliance infrastructure that enables payment products that enable financial instruments, all built together rather than bolted together.
We move fast because we have to. We care deeply about compliance because we build on regulated infrastructure, and because we believe compliance done right is a competitive moat, not just a cost of doing business. We use AI as a primary operating layer, not as a productivity add-on. If you want to spend the next few years building something that will define how Indian businesses transact, and eventually how businesses transact globally, this is where you should be.
About the role
Payments no longer happen in one place. A customer pays on a merchant’s website, on their mobile app, at a POS terminal in-store, at a transit gate, and at an EV charging station — often using different payment instruments across each of those touchpoints. Most gateway products were built for one of these channels and then stretched awkwardly to cover the others. The result is fragmented acceptance, inconsistent checkout experiences, and authorization rates that vary wildly by channel.
This role exists to build something different at AndPayments.
As Product Manager for the Payment Gateway, you will own the end-to-end acceptance experience across every channel our merchants operate in — online, in-store, and unattended. You will work across card payments, UPI, wallets, internet banking, and emerging payment instruments. You will define how transactions originate from a merchant website, an Android POS, a Soundbox, a Mobile POS device, a transit terminal, and an EV charger — and ensure that each of those channels delivers consistent, compliant, high-converting payment experiences.
The decisions you make will directly affect authorization rates, fraud exposure, merchant integration quality, and the payment experience for thousands of businesses and millions of their customers.
What you'll do
- Own the product strategy and roadmap for AndPayments’ omni-channel payment gateway — spanning card acceptance, UPI, wallets, internet banking, and alternative payment methods across online, in-store, and unattended acceptance channels.
- Define and drive the card processing product from scheme integrations (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay) and tokenization frameworks (guest checkout, card-on-file, device tokenization) to recurring payment architectures, mandate management, and the authentication stack including EMV 3DS 2.0, payment passkeys, and native OTP flows.
- Build and own the omni-channel acceptance layer — ensuring payment flows are consistently designed for merchant websites, Android POS devices, Soundboxes, Mobile POS terminals, transit acceptance systems, EV charging stations, and any new merchant touchpoint that emerges.
- Define and improve intelligent routing logic and orchestration layers that optimize authorization rates, minimize costs, and ensure resilience across acquirers, card networks, and payment processors — across all acceptance channels.
- Build and maintain merchant onboarding and management flows that balance speed-to-live with compliance requirements — ensuring merchants can go live quickly across the channels they need without compromising on KYC, risk, or scheme compliance.
- Own the chargeback and dispute management product — designing workflows that give merchants visibility and control while protecting AndPayments’ chargeback ratios across card schemes and payment instruments.
- Drive card acceptance success rate optimization as a measurable product outcome — running structured experiments on authentication flows, retry logic, decline analysis, and issuer-level and acquirer-level performance.
- Integrate and manage transaction fraud monitoring capabilities — working with fraud vendors, internal risk models, and real-time decisioning systems to protect merchants and the platform across all channels.
- Work closely with Engineering, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure all acceptance products meet PCI-DSS requirements, card scheme mandates, and applicable RBI regulations — treating compliance as a design constraint, not an afterthought.
- Partner with Business and Merchant Success teams to translate merchant pain points into product improvements that reduce integration friction and improve acceptance outcomes across channels.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years at a payment aggregator, payment gateway, acquiring bank, or card network or payment processor, in a role directly managing card payment or omni-channel acceptance products.
- Deep knowledge of card processing flows — authorization, clearing, settlement, reversals, and the nuances of online, card-present, and unattended acceptance environments.
- Deep knowledge of card authentication flows — EMV 3DS 2.0, payment passkeys, native OTP, and the product decisions that govern authentication UX, challenge rates, and their impact on conversion.
- Hands-on experience with card scheme integrations (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay) — including scheme compliance programmes, scheme mandates, and the operational discipline required to maintain them.
- Strong command of tokenization standards — guest checkout flows, card-on-file tokenization, and device tokenization across merchant and network token frameworks.
- Experience building or significantly improving recurring payment products — including mandate management, retry logic, and the failure modes that make recurring a hard problem in practice.
- Working knowledge of PCI-DSS requirements and their product and engineering implications.
- Track record of improving authorization rates through structured experimentation and analytical rigour — not intuition.
- Excellent written communication — you can write a crisp PRD, a sharp stakeholder update, and a clear technical specification without being prompted to.
- High ownership: you treat your product area as your business, not your assignment.
Nice to have
- Experience building or owning omni-channel acceptance products that span online, POS (Android POS, Mobile POS, Soundbox), and unattended channels such as transit terminals or EV chargers.
- Working knowledge of UPI acceptance flows — including collect, intent, QR, and in-app UPI integrations, and the routing and reconciliation considerations specific to UPI.
- Working knowledge of processing flows and integration mechanisms for alternate payment methods including internet banking, wallets, BNPL, and EMI instruments.
- Experience with fraud monitoring integrations — including working with external fraud vendors and tuning rule-based or ML-driven decisioning systems.
- Experience designing intelligent routing or orchestration layers across multiple acquirers or payment processors.
- Ability to read and interpret card scheme bulletins, compliance circulars, and RBI guidelines without needing a translation layer.
AI at AndPayments
AI is the primary operating layer at AndPayments. Humans supervise; AI executes the first pass on research, documentation, analysis and synthesis.
As a PM, you will be expected to use AI tools, agentic workflows, and whatever replaces them — to move faster on competitive analysis, PRD drafts, data synthesis, and experiment design. You will also be expected to exercise judgement about when the output is ready and when it needs significant revision.
We are not looking for people who avoid AI. We are also not looking for people who outsource their thinking to it. We are looking for people who have genuinely changed how they work because of AI and who remain rigorous about the quality of what they produce.
Why Join AndPayments
Omni-channel acceptance is genuinely unsolved in the Indian market. Most gateways handle online reasonably well and bolt on POS as an afterthought. Nobody has built a coherent acceptance stack that works consistently from a merchant website to an Android POS to an EV charger. That is the gap this role will close.
You will have direct ownership of a product that touches every transaction we process — across every channel, instrument, and merchant integration pattern we support. You will work with a small team that has no room for passengers and no tolerance for theatre. You will have access to scheme relationships, regulatory channels, and engineering bandwidth that most PMs at this stage of company don’t get near.
If you have spent years knowing exactly what is wrong with payment gateway and acceptance products and have not had the authority to fix it, this is that opportunity. AndPayments is building the infrastructure layer that Indian businesses will run on for the coming decades. The person in this role will have shaped a meaningful part of it.
